Actress Margarida Vila-Nova and director John Romão did not go unnoticed in the preparation for one of the Braga Capital Portuguesa da Cultura 2025 shows, during the preparations and rehearsals, across the three stages, on Avenida Central.
Actress Margarida Vila-Nova will be the cicerone of “Abre a tua Porta”, assuming the theme chosen for Braga 25, curated by director John Romão, the show will bring together institutions and collectives from Braga, featuring some of the main national artists.
“Abre a tua Porta” combines Music with words and dance, with the participation of members of Braga’s various folk groups and a breakdance collective, directed by choreographers Filipa Francisco and Deeogo Oliveira, while visual artist Maria Imaginário will create the show’s scenography and is expected to have thousands of people in attendance.

Saturday will be the big opening day
The opening day of Braga’25 will culminate with a great multidisciplinary show on Avenida Central, starting at 9pm, after a first show marking the opening of Braga Capital Portuguesa da Cultura 2025, which will take place at 11am at Theatro Circo, with the presence, among other guests, from the Minister of Culture, Dalila Rodrigues, who will preside over the ceremony.
-Braga officially assumes the title of Portuguese Capital of Culture 2025 next Saturday, January 25th, with an opening program that will last throughout the day, anticipating the diversity of artistic proposals that will be presented throughout the year, such as This was already the purpose of the Braga City Council, when it was running for office.
Mariza, the most international fado singer today, will be one of the voices tonight, interpreting not only songs from her repertoire, but also songs prepared especially for Braga’25.
Iolanda, the winner of the last edition of the Festival da Canção, will also be on stage, alongside Dino d’Santiago, a fundamental artist of new national music, with a special participation in the opening show of the Portuguese Capital of Culture.
The participation of people from Braga in this show also extends to percussion, with members of the groups Bomboémia, Equipe Espiral and Batalá Braga and the Coral from the Bomfim Music Conservatory, seeking to involve all attendees equally.
At the end of the show, the skies of Braga will be illuminated with a show that combines technology, art and history and that affirms the city’s role as a center of invocation, through the movement of drones with voice-over and a soundtrack of traditional inspiration with the participation of the artist Daniel Pereira Cristo, who invites the public to embark on a unique journey that marks the opening of Braga Portuguese Capital of Culture 2025, thus opening a range of activities for the whole of this year.
