Bayern sports director Max Eberl is clearly disappointed after the 3-0 defeat against Feyenoord Rotterdam. The 51-year-old thought that Munich were back on the road to success in the Champions League, but was proven wrong yesterday.
Munich – With three Bundesliga wins in a row, FC Bayern’s self-confidence was high before the Champions League duel against Feyenoord Rotterdam. With a win against the Dutch, the Munich team would have taken a big step towards direct qualification for the round of 16. In the end everything turned out differently. The German record champions were defeated 3-0 on Wednesday evening.
Max Eberl makes no secret of the fact that the bankruptcy is a bitter setback for FCB: “Today it was a real blow on the nose. I can stand here now and say that if we score one goal, we will also score the second and third. But we didn’t do that. We conceded goals too easily at the back. For me this has nothing to do with individuality, we haven’t done well as a collective. “Today we really got on the nose,” he emphasized after the game.
-Eberl partly agrees with Kimmich
Bayern are only in 15th place after seven games in the league phase and are in danger of missing out on the top 8. According to Joshua Kimmich, the current CL table reflects reality and, according to the 29-year-old, it says that Bayern “are not a top team at the moment”.

When asked about Kimmich’s clear criticism, Eberl found few counterarguments: “Well, if we look at the table, we are not among the top eight teams. That was our goal. Now we are threatened with the play-offs. When you lose 3-0 at Feyenoord it doesn’t seem like that. But the season is still long and we are still there.”
After defeats against Aston Villa and Barcelona, Bayern had recently been in good form in the premier class and won three games in a row. The 51-year-old assumed that FCB was back on the road to success. However, the game against Rotterdam taught him otherwise: “After the three wins, we had a phase where we thought we were out of there. Now we’ve seen today that we’re not out yet.”
