Weather around Denver on Wednesday will be cool and dry, and will feature a a cold front passing through the state from north to south.

Denver residents can expect mostly sunny skies today, with a high near 31, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Northwest winds will blow between 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

“Gusty north to northwest winds will prevail today,” the NWS said. “Wind gusts to 40 mph will be possible across the eastern plains as well over the mountains and foothills. The gusty winds and cooler temperatures will result in wind chill values in the teens and lower 20s for much of the day across the urban corridor and eastern plains.”

Tonight expect partly cloudy skies, with a low around 8. North winds to blow around 6 mph become south after midnight.

Dry and sunny conditions close out the week on Thursday and Friday, but snow returns to the city over the weekend, with 2-4 inches of snow potentially falling by Sunday evening.

Sunday: A slight chance of snow before 11 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 29.
