MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — Due to hazardous conditions on local roadways, Mayor Sandy Stimpson has extended the Proclamation of Civil Emergency for the City of Mobile and its police jurisdiction.
This emergency declaration will now be in effect from Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 5 p.m. to Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 5 p.m. (CST). As a result, all City of Mobile offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, January 23, and city trash and garbage services will not operate. Additional information about make-up days for garbage collection will be shared as soon as possible.
Motorists are urged to stay informed and avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary. As temperatures rise and the snow begins to melt, lingering moisture will refreeze into ice, creating very dangerous conditions on the roadways. As a reminder, roads throughout the City of Mobile and Mobile County have been deemed IMPASSABLE until further notice from the Mobile County Commission.
-Please report any dangerous conditions or obstructions on local roadways to the Mobile Police Department’s non-emergency line at (251) 208-7211. For real-time updates on city closures and roadway conditions, follow the City of Mobile – Government on Facebook and Instagram.
