Feyenoord won 3-0 against Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening. Now it is hoped that peace within the club can quickly return towards important matches against LOSC , Ajax and PSV. There is a big question mark behind Brian Priske’s position and the club will have to make a statement quickly to allay the unrest in any way possible.

“A very nice victory and three very important points,” Priske reflects after the match against Bayern Munich. “It was a really great night at De Kuip and well deserved. Three points against Bayern in the Champions League is unbelievable. What those boys have achieved in the Champions League is really unbelievable. I don’t know how much possession was for us, but it was was a completely different match than normal,” the trainer refers to, for example, a competition match against Willem II where Feyenoord had more than double the percentage of ball possession.

“I am very proud of those guys. Bijlow was also great,” the Dane continues. “Everyone really had to fight hard for each other. I can only say that we needed it. It is an incredible result for the entire club. Historically it is a great achievement against the eight most difficult opponents in the Champions League. Also for In Dutch football this is a great result. We have two teams in the next round.”

Thomas Beelen

Priske chose to move Beelen to the position of defensive midfielder. “I thought he was the best choice in that position. I really wanted to keep playing with four defenders and then it was a bit of a puzzle in midfield. For the rhythm it was important to just play with three midfielders. I thought Antoni and Calvin needed someone who could close a lot of spaces. Beelen is a good player and he also played in midfield in his youth. There were not many alternatives.”
