Both Bayern Munich and Feyenoord believe in the power of sport, and Football in particular, as a means to make a positive impact on society. Both clubs are committed to people from different backgrounds, in order to make a difference in their lives.
In the run-up to the Champions League match in De Kuip, Feyenoord and Bayern Munich organized a three-day social exchange. From Monday to Wednesday there were activities that emphasized that football is more than a 90-minute match on the field. The goal: to show fans of both clubs, residents of the cities of Rotterdam and Munich, and other stakeholders how football can connect people, both on and off the field.
A special aspect of the exchange was the collaboration between trainers and coaches from Bayern Munich and Feyenoord. Their joint presence was a special experience for the participants in various projects, such as Zuidblinkers. For the 25 young people between the ages of 16 and 27, the lesson became very special when not only the youth coaches from Feyenoord, but also from Bayern Munich walked into the classroom at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.
Tuesday morning was all about education, with an activity by Club1908 in which 25 primary school children were involved in STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). Later in the day, Feyenoord Walking Football brought together approximately 50 participants of all ages in the Topsportcentrum Rotterdam. A highlight was the presence of Jacintha Weimar, who played as a goalkeeper for Bayern Munich between 2016-2020 and will play for Feyenoord from the 2021/2022 season.
-The delegation then continued its program with Fitter with Feyenoord, an activity at Sportpark Olympia where adults got moving and were coached not only by the trainers of Feyenoord, but also of Bayern Munich.
The exchange will conclude today with a Feyenoord Sportwise activity on the Laarwoudpad in Rotterdam. Here, children from the neighborhood can participate in football training in a Champions League atmosphere. A good warm-up for tonight, when the Champions League match with Bayern Munich kicks off in De Kuip at 9 p.m.
