The sale of Donyell Malen brought Borussia Dortmund 25 million euros into their coffers. However, after the Dutchman’s departure, there is still more need in the offensive than before. After there have been very specific rumors surrounding Marcus Rashford in the past few days, the trail has, according to recent reports, gone cold again as the Englishman would prefer to stay at Manchester United.
Still no new arrivals
Sports director Sebastian Kehl is running out of time, the transfer window is only open until February 3rd and so far BVB fans are waiting in vain for the first winter newcomer. However, a hot trail now leads to Donyell Malen’s former club, PSV Eindhoven.
As Sacha Tavolieri, who is well connected in the Netherlands and Belgium, reports, Johan Bakayoko is once again on the Dortmund Borussia list. Accordingly, BVB is closely monitoring the Belgian’s situation and is taking positive note of his performance. The 21-year-old has seven goals and three assists this season.

-According to Tavolieri, Bakayoko could be more of a candidate for next summer. His contract with PSV only runs until 2026, so the reigning champions have to sell if they want to collect a reasonable fee. With a market value of 40 million euros (transfermarkt.de), a free transfer is probably not an option.
Gittens’ departure after missing the Champions League
Even if BVB were to strengthen themselves with Rashford at short notice, the 27-year-old would only last until the end of the season, meaning that another position would open up at the Westphalians in the summer. If BVB then misses qualification for the Champions League, another gap could arise with the departure of Jamie Gittens – Bakayoko will therefore almost certainly remain an issue at Strobelallee.
