Borussia Dortmund coach Nuri Sahin failed to receive the full backing of managing director Lars Ricken on Tuesday after the 2-1 Champions League defeat at Bologna.
The Germans took the lead in Italy but ended up with a fourth straight defeat in all competitions.
The 36-year-old Sahin, who succeeded Edin Terzic last June following the lost Champions League final, is relatively inexperienced with just the Antalyaspor job before joining Dortmund.
“My expectations after Friday’s loss against Frankfurt were clear. We need wins. We need results. Now it is one win in nine,” Ricken, who won the Champions League with Dortmund in 1997, told Amazon Prime.
“I have a very trusting and good relationship with Nuri. He always has my backing, but of course my statements (about how bad thing are) stand.”
-A meeting is expected on Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga game with Werder Bremen, Ricken said.
Dortmund are 13th in the Champions League table and could still reach the last 16 without a play-off if they win at home to Shakhtar Donetsk next Wednesday as the league phase ends.
They are 10th in the Bundesliga, just a year and a half after almost winning the title on the final day under Terzic, who is still available after his surprise exit in June.
