Arne Slot rotated his Liverpool team more than expected for the visit of Lille on Tuesday night.
The Reds were aiming to qualify for the last-16 as League Phase winners and a win at Anfield would give them the chance of doing that.
Slot had been expected to go strong against the French outfit, with many regular starters expected to get a run out.
However, although the Liverpool head coach did pick the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Mohamed Salah, he did rest a number of others.
All in all, four changes were made to the Liverpool team which beat Brentford on Saturday.
One of the players coming into the side was Curtis Jones, who repaid Slot with a lovely assist for Mohamed Salah to open the scoring. But shortly after the goal, journalist Lewis Steele spotted a problem for Jones.
Curtis Jones picks up possible injury knock
Jones has not been at his best for Liverpool over recent weeks, but he started more brightly on Tuesday.
The assist for Salah was inch perfect, with the Egyptian able to run onto the pass and hit it first time.
Jones’ quality has rarely been in question throughout his Liverpool career and this was another example of that.
What has been problematic for the 23-year-old, however, has been his injury record. And just before half-time, Steele noticed another problem for Jones.

“Curtis Jones just pointed to an injury on his right leg and signalled to the bench he might not be able to continue,” the journalist pointed out.
“They’ve told him to go down – Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott warming up.”
Jones subbed off after problem
Jones did initially carry on after his problem was spotted by Steele. That no doubt led to optimism within the fanbase that the Liverpool academy graduate had escaped a problem.
While it is still possible that he did, it was not a great sign that Slot decided to withdraw Jones at half-time.
Having played only 10 minutes against Brentford on Saturday, it was likely that the No.17 had been pencilled in for a full game in the Champions League on Tuesday.
But Slot’s plan was thrown straight into the bin after Jones was not able to carry one.
A nervous wait now ensues for Liverpool as they wait to see the prognosis from the boss after the game
