Javier Saviola will be one of the many spectators paying attention to Benfica-Barcelona, which takes place this Tuesday at 8pm at the Estádio da Luz.
«In a place where I was very happy on a personal and professional level, today there is a Champions League game between two historic clubs that I had the privilege of defending. Lots of luck tonight,” wrote the former Argentine striker in a post on Instagram.
Saviola played for Benfica between 2009/10 and 2011/12, during which time he played 121 games, scored 39 goals and helped the Reds win a championship and three League Cups.
Barcelona was the gateway to Europe for the former River Plate. El Conejo wore the Catalans' shirt between 2001/02 and 2006/07, with two seasons in between during which he was loaned to Monaco and Sevilla. For the Blaugrana, Saviola scored 72 goals in 172 games, helping them win a Spanish League and two Super Cups.
