She wanted to get out of the “sacrosanct reserve” of state officials. The spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior Camille Chaize resigned from her position on Monday, after the release of a book on her experience at Place Beauvau, we learned on Tuesday from consistent sources.

“At a time when this book which is so much like me is about to be released, I must, as you will easily understand, put an end to the mission of spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior which was entrusted to me in December 2019 », Wrote Camille Chaize on her LinkedIn account on Monday.

The commissioner has held this position since 2019. In her book, entitled “Spokesperson”, she recounts her experience at the Ministry of the Interior and her thoughts on the meaning of her mission. She writes in particular that she would have left office if the National Rally (RN) had come to power after the dissolution.

“I want to come out of this sacrosanct reserve, to defend my republican values ​​loud and clear. I reread the general status of civil servants on the obligation of hierarchical obedience (…). I understand that if the public official believes that the hierarchical order harms the public interest, he is not required to comply with the instructions,” she wrote, according to extracts published in the press.

She also points out the power of the police unions, in particular Alliance, one of the two main unions, and denounces a certain weakness of the administration towards them.

The entourage of the Minister of the Interior denied to AFP information from Le Canard Enchaîné according to which the Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau had received a letter from the leadership of the RN demanding the dismissal of Camille Chaize.

Camille Chaize, who had been considering moving to new positions for several months, “considered herself” that her book “was not compatible with her duty of confidentiality” and resigned, added those around her.

For the moment, she has resigned from her position as spokesperson, but is still stationed at Dicom, the communications service of the Ministry of the Interior, adds the entourage.

Le Canard Enchaîné, to be published on Wednesday, also ensures that Alliance officials were received by the Director General of the National Police (DGPN) and obtained the departure of the spokesperson. Those close to him were not able to confirm or deny this point. Contacted by AFP, the General Directorate of the National Police, the Alliance union, the RN and Camille Chaize have not responded for the time being.
