Guest on the set of Children of TVthis Sunday, January 19, Kamel Ouali looked back on the beginnings of his career as a choreographer. The dancer notably recounted how a big French star allowed him to make himself known in this industry.
Iconic choreographer of the Star AcademyKamel Ouali was one of the most important teachers of the famous TF1 program. From 2001 to 2008, he was in charge of the dance classes at the legendary Château de Dammarie-les-Lys. A role that he almost never accepted! Indeed, in 2023, the dancer told in the show Le Figaro at night thathe had initially refused the position of dance teacherand this, for a very specific reason: “When I learned that the castle was going to be on the other side of the world, in Dammarie-les-Lys, and that we were going to have to go there by train and bus, I refused”he confessed, before adding that he had succeeded “to get a driver”.
And if Kamel Ouali has long since left the ship of Star Academymany fans are hoping for his return. Unfortunately, this is not in the works at the moment, as he explained recently: “Coming back to the show permanently is complicated with my schedule. Being a guest from time to time suits me very well.”

But before becoming the renowned choreographer that he is today, Kamel Ouali experienced difficulties in his beginnings. And it’s a big French and international star who allowed him to make himself known! On the plateau of Children of TV this Sunday January 19, iin fact told how David Guetta held out his hand : “He was working on a show on M6, and he told me 'well, there's a group coming and there are no dancers. Could you choreograph something?'I was very, very young, I said ok, I took some friends, we did the thing. Then, straight away there was a record company that was there and said to me 'well what else do you want to do?' It all started like that.” The chance of a lifetime!
