A series of shootings hit the town of Besançon (Doubs). During the last week, three businesses were the target of gunfire.
On the facade of a hookah bar there are still visible bullet holes. A week earlier, gunshots rang out around 2 a.m. while the manager was inside with customers. To protect himself, he took refuge under the tables. The establishment is the first business in Besançon targeted by a series of assault rifle attacks.
Another similar assault took place in the city center three days after this attack. Finally, the last business affected is a restaurant. The attack took place on Saturday January 18 in the middle of the night. Residents are in shock. “We were sleeping and it was the sounds of gunshots that woke us up.”. For the moment, it is impossible to know if these attacks are linked, but the modus operandi questions the mayor of the town. “Today, there is not a single territory that is safe from this trafficking” deplores Anne Vignot, the mayor of Besançon. To remedy these attacks, a specialized CRS brigade was deployed to reinforce the police force already present on site.
