World No.5 Daniil Medvedev has been handed down fines totalling $123,000 AUD, almost all his tournament prize money, after his outbursts during the Australian Open.
Much of the fine was for “inappropriate behaviour” after he smashed his racquet into a net camera after he lost the third set against wildcard Kasidit Samrej in the first round.
He then added more to the bill for not showing up to his post-match press conference after he was bundled out in the second round by American qualifier Learner Tien.
-He was also charged with inappropriate behaviour during his second match, as he voiced his frustration when being called for two consecutive foot-faults, resulting in a double-fault, during the second-set tie-break.
Medvedev pocketed $200,000 for reaching the second round at Melbourne Park.
