Liverpool scored two goals in stoppage time to win 2-0 over Brentford on Saturday, strengthening the English Premier League leaders’ position at the top of the Premier League.
Luis Diaz and Cody Jacobo wasted two good chances before the end of the first half, as Ryan Grafenberg forced goalkeeper Mark Flecken to make a dangerous save, while Dominik Soboslai shot a shot that went over the crossbar as the visitors intensified their pressure.
But Brentford held on and looked on course for a deserved point until Nunez turned in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross from close range in the first minute of stoppage time, before adding a second goal two minutes later to secure the three points.
-Liverpool remained in the lead with 50 points from 21 matches, seven points ahead of second-placed Arsenal, which hosts Aston Villa later in the day.
Brentford ranks 11th with 28 points from 22 matches.
