After an emotional 2-0 win over Lazio in the Derby della Capitale earlier this month, Roma was riding high as they traveled north to Bologna. While the Rossoblu have fallen off last season’s fairytale pace, they had enough tricks up their sleeve to make life miserable for the Giallorossi last weekend, who were only spared thanks to a 98th-minute penalty converted by striker Artem Dovbyk.
Stealing a point at the death in a match they otherwise should have lost always leaves an awkward taste in your mouth, but Dovbyk’s list minute conversion kept Roma’s five-match unbeaten streak intact. Claudio Ranieri admitted in his pre-match presser that the Giallorossi remain a work in progress, so what better way to continue that development than with a win today over 11th-place Genoa?
A win today, coupled with a Udinese loss to Como on Monday, would vault Roma into ninth place, putting the club in the upper half of the table for the first time this season.
