How did the week of preparation go for the trip to Angoulême?
It took place in good humor after the result obtained against Nice (42-9 victory). We felt the players were calm, focused, sure of their game, of what they can accomplish on the pitch and aware of the very big challenge that awaits them in Angoulême. Because every time we went there, we were “opened”… The players have the weapons to fight back and I hope that we will not relive what happened at Mont-de-Marsan (defeat 47-32) before the truce.
What will be the key to this match?
Rugby starts up front. There will therefore already be the conquest, the fact of having our balls in the scrum and in touch so that our three-quarters have them for their launches. What characterizes Béziers rugby today is the movement game. To do this, they need balls and this will therefore involve playing in front.
Often, at the start of the year, Béziers experienced air gaps. How to fix it?
It is the physical trainers who work on this. They are very attentive to the fitness of the players, who are managed so that they have maximum freshness. As for us, we are working on the areas that we lack during matches.
-What do you think of this Angoulême team?
It's a complete team, with individuals in certain positions. It must be taken seriously. Angoumoisins are good at conquest and when they enter the mark zones, they become aggressive and strong on humans.
How do you manage Jiffs?
We have a lot of injuries and knockouts to deal with. We make do with what we have. We can't rotate much. We will ask ourselves the question in due time.
