Sébastien Simon, the Vendée skipper of Groupe Dubreuil, took third place in the Vendée Globe by crossing the finish line on the night of Thursday to Friday.

The podium of the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe is now known! After Charlie Dalin and Yoann Richomme, Sébastien Simon crossed the finish line in his turn, this Friday at 1:27 a.m. The 34-year-old skipper of Groupe Dubreuil completed his round-the-world trip in 67 days, 12 hours, 25 minutes and 37 seconds, which also allowed him to beat the record for the event held for eight years. by Armel Le Cléac'h (64 days), before Charlie Dalin came to pulverize him last Tuesday.Forced to retire during his first participation, four years ago on Arkéa-Paprec, the Vendéen Simon takes a fantastic revenge, on his Imoca which he only purchased in July 2023accompanied by the Dubreuil group, which notably owns the airlines Air Caraibes and French Bee.

Simon broke the 24-hour speed record

Sébastien Simon has always been in the game in this 2024-25 Vendée Globe. He took the lead in the race the day after the start, then beat the 24-hour solo speed record at the end of November (615.33 miles, or 1139.6km), a record which still stands. Well placed in the lead car, he then followed Charlie Dalin on a southern option in the Indian Ocean, and it paid off. The duo escaped, before, on December 8, Sébastien Simon broke his starboard foil. The Vendée skipper was then unable to resist the return of Yoann Richomme, who took off with Dalin to fight for victory until the end. No longer in the race for the first two places, but never worried about his place on the podium, Simon made it up the Atlantic without incident, and here he is third in the end! The next arrival in Les Sables d'Olonne is not expected for several days. Sam Goodchild and Jérémie Beyou are currently engaged in a magnificent battle for fourth place, but they are only between Cape Verde and the Canaries. Last in the ranking with 6,300 miles to go, the Belgian Denis Van Weynbergh is located between Point Nemo and Cape Horn.
