This Thursday, January 16, Beijing Express returned to M6 for a twentieth event season! Pamri the ten pairs on The Route of the Legendary Tribes from Africa are Eva and Lionel. The latter, in difficulty from the start of the course, revealed that he had recently undergone cancer surgery.
Conquer Africa! For his 20th birthday, Beijing Express leaves on The Route of the Legendary Tribes. Ten pairs are starting a new adventure this Thursday, January 16 at the foot of Kilimanjaro. The strongest and luckiest among them will go to the four countries selected this year by production, namely Tanzania, Mozambique, Lesotho and South Africa. Stéphane Rotenberg gave the instructions for the first race which started strong as the ten pairs began a 4 km trek on a stony dirt road dragging their suitcases before transferring the contents into the famous red backpacks: a great first in the history of the show!

As viewers can see this evening, only young lovers Hélène and Maxime had brought their own backpacks. A brilliant idea which allows them to largely dominate this start of the competition. The Unknowns of the game, Moâde and Ludovic, quickly left last place by making a fairly impressive comeback ranking them third, behind the friends with a 30-year gap, Patricia and Adrien, and the couple in their thirties. Everyone must now cross Lake Matadi over 2 km on board an air mattress and row with their hands in order to qualify for the immunity test! But the fate of one duo already seems sealed….

Lionel takes part in the cult game with his daughter Eva. The father is unfortunately exhausted and even finds himself immobile for several minutes, needing time to catch his breath. Although they are not at altitude, these Franche-Comtois must advance at their own pace due to the health problems of the fifty-year-old. Stéphane Rotenberg reveals, in fact, to aficionados: “If Lionel is suffering physically it is because he is still recovering. He was operated on for cancer [l’année dernière], even though he is in remission, he is still monitored regularly. Marked by this ordeal, Lionel has not yet regained his former form.. There is therefore no need to contact the race doctor in this case, the main person concerned ensuring: “Just because you have cancer doesn’t mean you can’t do anything. I will prove that we can move forward, whether you win or lose, you can still do the adventure. (…) We will hold out until the end even if we advance 10 meters by 10 meters, I don't care. I want us to get there.”. Very good determination!
