Pedro Porro humiliated as Arsenal star makes ‘mess’ of Tottenham man in first half

Tottenham star Pedro Porro was humiliated by Leandro Trossard in the first half of the North London derby on Wednesday.

Ange Postecoglou made the risky decision to bench James Maddison for a fourth consecutive Premier League match at the Emirates on 15 January – a decision which wasn’t received well – although it didn’t seem to matter as Spurs struck first through Son Heung-min.

However, Arsenal turned things around before halftime as Gabriel equalised before Trossard put the Gunners ahead.

And that wasn’t the only impact Trossard had on the first half, with the Belgian producing a neat turn to leave Porro in a heap earlier in the half.

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin reacted to the incident while speaking live on BBC Radio 5 Live, saying [via BBC Sport, 15 January, 8:30 pm]“Pedro Porro bought the dummy so much that his ankle gave way.

“Leandro Trossard made a complete mess of Porro.”

Porro had a day to forget in the 3-0 FA Cup third-round victory over Tamworth at the Lamb Ground (12 January), with calls for the defender to be released after his poor display against a non-league team.

And he won’t want to watch back the first-half incident involving himself and Trossard anytime soon.

However, while some might criticise the defender for his recent performances, a lot of fans will sympathise with the Spaniard.

With so many injuries in the squad, there is a lack of defensive cover available, which means Porro has been required to play almost every game this season.

Therefore, it appears as though we are now beginning to see signs of fatigue for the right-back.
