The Minister of Regional Planning and Decentralization assured that he did not respect the National Rally during an interview with BFMTV. A “red line that is better not to cross” for Jordan Bardella.

The demonization of the National Rally is not François Rebsamen's cup of tea. The Minister of Regional Planning and Decentralization declared on Tuesday January 14 on BFMTV: “I respect all political forces except the RN. (…) I do not respect those who carry (…) speeches of hatred and exclusion of others.” The minister nevertheless assures that this does not concern all the elected representatives of the National Rally.

This declaration comes a few days after the death of Jean-Marie Le Pen, founder of the National Front, which subsequently became the National Rally, and while his declarations and the initial positions of the flame party have resurfaced. But this also comes at a time when the government is far from having a majority in the National Assembly and a motion of censure tabled by LFI should be put to the vote at the end of the week.

Jordan Bardella reacted to the minister's words

Jordan Bardella made this observation and warned the minister. In the evening, the president of the National Rally posted a message on X: “François Bayrou should quickly remind his minister that the respect due to the 11 million French voters of the National Rally is one of our main demands. And the insult to them is a red line that it is better not to cross when you are part of a minority government.”

However, François Bayrou is not as conciliatory as his predecessor regarding the case of the RN. As a reminder, Michel Barnier had called Antoine Armand, then Minister of the Economy, to order after he excluded the RN from “the republican arch”as he assured during an interview with Inter.

François Bayrou estimated at BFMTV in December that the RN did not respect the values of the Republic: “The values of the Republic are fraternity. Is there fraternity when we look at people who are in our streets as needing to be excluded at all costs? I don't think so.”
