cheaper, but worse

At the start of 2025, Canal+ has decided to simplify its price list. On the menu: price reductions on certain offers, but also limitations on content and functionalities. A redesign which aims to attract new subscribers, but which could leave some wanting more.

Price cuts, but at what cost?

The basic Canal+ subscription without commitment now increases to €24.99 per month, a reduction of €3. Those who commit for 24 months benefit from a reduced rate of €19.99 monthly for the first six months, before returning to €24.99. A modest saving, certainly, but which is accompanied by some cuts: 4K, Dolby Atmos and multi-screen access are no longer available for these no-commitment subscriptions, and it's frankly shameful. Users will therefore have to settle for classic HD quality and one screen at a time.

As for Ciné Séries packages, the price is also falling. Without commitment, it goes from €39.99 to €34.99. The 24-month commitment allows you to benefit from a reduction of €29.99 monthly for six months. But be careful, Netflix integrated into this offer is now in Standard version with advertising. Paramount+, formerly included in certain packages, disappears and becomes available only via specific packs.

A new high-end offering: “La Totale”

For those who want all Canal+ content, the “La Totale” formula is appearing. Offered at €59.99 per month for six months, then €75.99, this premium offer includes all the platform's services : Canal+ on demand, Apple +, Max Standard, Netflix Standard, Paramount+ and sports channels (Eurosport, Canal+ Sport, etc.). It also offers 4K, Dolby Atmos and four simultaneous screens, which makes it an option reserved for heavy content consumers, but without Disney+ of course.

Youth and sports subscriptions

The RAT+ formulas for those under 26 remain an interesting alternative. At €19.99 per month without commitment, “RAT+ Ciné Séries” includes movie channels, Apple TV+ and Netflix with advertising. “RAT+ Sport”, at the same price, gives access to the main sports channelsincluding beIN Sports, Eurosport and Canal+ Foot.

For sports fans, the Canal+ Sport subscription remains unchanged at €45.99. It still includes all the sports channels on the platform, with HD broadcasting, but without 4K for non-commitment plans.

A mixed overhaul

Canal+ is therefore banking on greater accessibility with lower prices. But in exchange, certain advantages disappear, like 4K or Paramount+. A strategy that could appeal to new subscribers, but also frustrate users accustomed to a more complete offer.
