NATO boss Mark Rutte wants to increase military presence in the Baltic Sea to combat sabotage and espionage
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has announced a new military operation in the Baltic Sea, called ‘Baltic Sentry’. Frigates and maritime patrol aircraft from various Member States will participate. The Secretary General also announced the deployment of new technologies, including a small fleet of drones.
With the new measures, Rutte wants to demonstrate NATO’s determination to protect its critical infrastructure in the north and east. “Working together with all allies, we will do what is necessary to ensure safety and security. Not just the safety of our critical infrastructure, but of everything we hold dear.”
