For socialists, one word will suffice. The future of François Bayrou rests on one word: “suspension”. The socialists, who have been negotiating for a week with the government to rebalance the budget, want to hear it pronounced by the Prime Minister during his general policy declaration (DPG), this afternoon in the Assembly. “Whatever concessions do not matter, the media debate today is focused on pensions, we will not give up”warns a socialist executive. At the end of last week, the socialist negotiators reported at least a “agreement of view” on local authorities, housing and even overseas. A wealth tax is also being studied, inspired by economist Gabriel Zucman. “Lombard is giving us signals, he wants to give us the possibility of not censoring, says the same socialist. But he also tells us that in the end, it is Bayrou who will decide. If he commits to suspending the pension reform, we will not vote on the motion of censure, even if we are the only ones on the left.”

Monday evening, after a meeting with the Ministers of Labor, Economy and Budget and before being received again by Bayrou, the roses expressed their anger and their feeling of having been taken for granted, while none concrete perspective on pensions was not presented to them. MP Philippe Brun even spoke of «farce» to qualify the negotiations with the executive, indicating that the government offered them “Michel Barnier’s Budget, less good”. In the wake of the DPG, the socialists will meet at a National Bureau to decide on their position on the rebellious motion of censure examined this afternoon. One word will be enough.
