A new delay affected the rail line linking Clermont-Ferrand to Paris this Monday, January 13. SNCF indicates that traffic was interrupted shortly after 6 a.m. in the Riom -Vichy direction due to a broken down train. The Intercités 5950 found itself stuck between 2 stations. Teams intervened to repair the train and a rescue locomotive was sent from Clermont-Ferrand. She was able to push the train to Vichy station and traffic resumed around 9 a.m. With the track blocked, several other trains were canceled or diverted by Gannat.
The driver tried to repair his train, but without success. He was, however, able to restore electricity and heating on board while the emergency locomotive arrived from Clermont-Ferrand. It pushed the train to Vichy and was then maneuvered to be connected to the front of the train and allow it to continue its journey. The repeated delays on the line outrage many passengers, who come together under the banner of several collectives or share their disappointments via social networks. A young woman who was to take the Intercités from Moulins testifies on the Clermont-Paris Train Users Facebook group: “Given the delay, it's impossible for me to take the train today. What should I do in this case? Cancel and make a claim or get the insurance to work? Thank you for your help and good luck to all those stuck!”
Three hours later, the train was able to leave. His arrival at Paris-Bercy station was scheduled for 12:10 p.m., instead of 8:57 a.m. The next train, Intercités 5954, has been canceled, the one after is slightly late by 15 minutes. Passengers on the damaged train will be able to benefit from exceptional compensation of 100% of the price of their tickets.
