A serious traffic accident took place this Monday, January 13 in the town of Liré (Orée-d'Anjou), in the west of Maine-et-Loire. According to our colleagues atWest France a heavy goods vehicle collided with two vehicles which ended their journey in the Loire. One of the motorists, a 46-year-old man living in the area, died. According to a provisional report, three people were slightly injured. The tragedy occurred on departmental road 763.
According to the first elements of the investigation, three vehicles were traveling in the direction of Ancenis when they encountered the heavy goods vehicle which was transporting drinks. The first car will move slightly to the left before hitting the truck. This one will make a movement to the right before leaving to the left and taking the two other vehicles below into the Loire
explains Eric Bouillard, public prosecutor of Angers. A driver was taken into custody. The investigation continues.
A diversion via rue de la Libération
A major security system was deployed, including firefighters from Maine-et-Loire and Loire-Atlantique, but also the motorized platoon from Chemillé. The sub-prefect of Cholet, Corinne Minot, went to the site. A diversion has been put in place by Champtoceaux. Rue de la Libération is still closed at the end of the morning.
