Marc Casadó has won over the entire Barcelona fanbase with performances like his display in the Supercopa de España final against Real Madrid, a team he has a knack for, as he also shone at Santiago Bernabéu in LaLiga.
Despite being in his first season with the first team, the academy midfielder has become Hansi Flick’s trusted man on the pitch. There were calls for a new midfielder, yet he was right there at home.
But it’s not just his footballing abilities that are highlighting Casadó’s rise. He is also a leader and an extension of Flick in the field. This was again evident in the tense moments of the Supercopa de España Clasico in Saudi Arabia.
After Wojciech Szczesny was shown a straight red card following a VAR review, the German coach called Casadó to the sideline and explained the tactical setup and game plan for playing with a man down. He did exceptionally well, as Barça did not suffer at all despite being a man down. With Casadó, there is a player for many years to come.
