Zilla Fatu arrived in Texas City, TX, to face his mentor, Booker T, at Reality of Wrestling’s Battle to the Bell. Though the student seemed ready for his final exam, the teacher still had a few lessons to dole out.
Originally, the two were supposed to meet in a singles bout. But before the match, Booker T tricked young Fatu into signing a contract that turned their affair into a 4-on-1 Street Justice Rules Gauntlet Match against Booker and his three minions, including TNA star AJ Francis. Fatu put up a valiant effort, executing a flawless dive as he put down his tormentors with Superman spikes. However, the odds heavily favored Booker T, who ultimately went on to win his first match in almost six years.
As the crowd voiced its disapproval, with Fatu’s mom leading the charge, Booker T took to the mic. “This is 2025,” he began. “This is not about ‘The Ones.’ I wanna let everyone in here know that the era of Zilla Fatu is dead.”
Booker’s tactics sparked an immediate backlash, with many feeling he did Fatu dirty. The big question after Battle to the Bell is whether fans in ROW have seen the last of Fatu. Given his family connections, he’s often rumored to be heading to WWE.
-If that’s the case, Fatu doing the honors for the 59-year-old owner of ROW is not unusual. Before his WWE debut at the 1996 Survivor SeriesThe Rock put over Jerry Lawler, dropping the USWA Title to “The King.” Thus, a loss by Fatu could mean brighter days ahead.
Alternatively, Booker’s deceit leaves room for a rematch. And with his mention of “The Ones,” the idea that things could get Ucey in ROW isn’t that far-fetched.
