This Monday, January 13, public transport services will be disrupted due to the demonstration organized by the common union front in Brussels to defend “decent pensions”.
This movement comes at the start of the second week of exam sessions in the country’s High Schools and Universities. Much to the dismay of the students, it appears that no alternative solution was offered. Indeed, on the Mons side, UMons had already taken the lead by sending each of the students an email stipulating that no changes were planned and that they would have to manage. “An announced strike is not a force majeure situation. The exams on the 13th will therefore neither be postponed nor organized remotely”as we can read in the Dean’s email.
On the side of the FEF, the Federation of Francophone Students, an appeal was launched to Universities and Hautes Ecoles to request a postponement of the exams scheduled for this Monday. But the federation is under no illusion: in the same scenario, its previous requests were generally not accepted. So, on the UMons side, it has already been decided despite the call from FEF.
But some students, like Emma, are lucky enough to be able to count on an alternative solution: this Monday, her parents will drive her to her exam. For others, on the other hand, it is still a little vague and they rely a lot on luck to find the providential train or bus that will allow them to take their exam.
