Beautiful escapes, at 9 p.m. on France 5
Hills, old bell towers and vineyards as far as the eye can see… No doubt, we are in Alsace! Sophie Jovillard sets off on the wine route, which starts from Marlenheim, in Bas-Rhin, and descends, 170 kilometers further down, to Thann, in Haut-Rhin. Created in 1953, this route aims to highlight the region’s heritage, both in the glass and on the plate. Sophie Jovillard goes to meet many Alsatians who bring this route to life, such as Antoine Schutz, winemaker who won the prize for “best white wine in the world” for his Gewurztraminer. Accompanied by residents whose initiatives bring life to the Alsatian villages, the host sets off to discover some heritage treasures that line this wine route, such as the Ottrott castles, restored thanks to the know-how of numerous volunteers. The third most visited wine region in France, after Bordeaux and Champagne, Alsace is revealed in a new light in this new issue ofBeautiful escapes.
The Papotin meetings, at 8:30 p.m. on France 2
Journalists from I’m a pothead welcome the monk and writer Matthieu Ricard, whom they question about his extraordinary journey. Having become a Tibetan Buddhist monk forty-five years ago, now aged 79, he has published numerous works which have enjoyed real success in France for several decades. He is also the interpreter of the Dalai Lama. While passing through France, he answered numerous questions from editorial journalists about him, of course, his career, but also about his relationship to modernity, silence, women and animals. As in each of their meetings with the guest personalities, the members of Papotin ask their questions without filter because, as is the rule of the show: “We can tell Le Papotin anything.”
