Mariel Colón Miróa Puerto Rican singer and law graduate, is the criminal lawyer that the wife of Daddy Yankee, Mireddys Gonzálezhired in the last hours to attend to her divorce case with the artist, in addition to the economic disputes coming from the corporations El Cartel Récords and Los Cangris.
The previous legal representatives of Mireddys, Pilar Pérez Rojas, Hipólito Torres Rivera and David Carrión Baralt, stated on Thursday from the San Juan Court that their client asked them to present an “immediate resignation,” according to the Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Día.
The court document also stressed that González hired Mariel Colón and Alonso Santiago.
Although it seems like an unexpected turn for the legal future of Daddy Yankee’s wife, after being sued by the singer, due to “an unauthorized transfer”the most striking thing is the profile of this lawyer, which leaves no one indifferent.

Who is the lawyer Mariel Colón Miró?
At just 31 years of age, this lawyer of Puerto Rican origin is recognized for having represented drug trafficker Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán and his wife Emma Coronel, in the United States.
However, the expert in criminal matters wants to be famous from another angle: to be a professional singer. According to Infobae, Mariel Colón has ventured into music since she was 15 years old, participating in shows from her school.
Apparently, his parents’ insistence prevented him from continuing with his dream, since they wanted him to obtain a bachelor’s degree and higher education. However, her father, Héctor Colón, has worked as a musical director and also masters the drums, a detail that influenced her since she was little.
After seeing her plans to be a singer frustrated, at least in her youth, Mariel Colón studied at the Hofstra University Law School in New York, giving way to her professional career and taking advantage of her command of English.
But now that she is an adult, nothing has stopped her from continuing with that desire. Colón has been able to release some singles like La Señora and No other has been bornunder the stage name Mariel La Abogada.

Mariel León acknowledged in an interview with TVyNovelas that having represented ‘Chapo’ Guzmán was “a stroke of luck” that opened many doors for her in her career as a lawyer, later jumping onto the stage in February 2023.

It should be remembered that Daddy Yankee’s wife was his manager and CEO of the El Cartel Records corporation, the artist’s record label. On some occasions, the singer himself even recognized her as a “boss.”
