7 caregivers were injured during a fight this Wednesday at the Pays de Savoie private hospital in Annemasse. The attackers were arrested and taken into police custody.
This Wednesday, January 8, around 11 p.m., a 33-year-old patient and his brother, a 25-year-old man, went to the Pays de Savoie private hospital in Annemasse. They demanded to be treated before other patients for suspected head trauma, according to information from the Dauphiné Libéré.
“His companion forced entry”
“The patient was installed in the department, but his companion forced entry to the care area by slipping right behind a caregiver who was badgering”indicates Marie Chabin, the deputy director of the HPPS.
A nurse asked him to return to the waiting room. The 25-year-old brother did not approve of the remark. He started attacking the two nurses who were next to him.
According to the Dauphiné Libéréa nurse was dragged by the hair for several meters, the head of the department ended up with a broken hand bone and bruises on the face and a doctor was hit in the ribs. A total of 12 caregivers were involved in the incident and 7 of them suffered injuries.
-Attackers arrested when they file a complaint
The two brothers were immediately placed in police custody after going to the Annemasse police station to file an emergency complaint. Hospital staff also filed a complaint at the police station.
“This is the first time that we have experienced such an attack in our emergency rooms which welcome 30,000 patients per year” declares Marie Chabin, the deputy director.
