At the microphone of France Inter, the comedian explained that his daughter had nothing to do with this decision. “And my daughter told me ‘but why don’t you do a one-man show, dad’. You’re funny. And I’ve never seen you. Finally, she saw me, a long time ago. Seven years ago, she was too small.” he had observed. This show borrows its title from the thoughts his teachers made to the comedian when he was a child. Philippe Bouvard’s criticisms were very violent for Dany Boon
Dany Boon began by performing in street shows, which barely allowed him to make ends meet. To make himself known, he auditioned in front of Philippe Bouvard at the Bobino theater. The latter did not take it, but also violently criticized one of his flagship sketches. “He even arrested me. I did the depression sketch and he arrested me at the beginning of the sketch. It was very violent”, he recalled. He shared what the television and radio man had told him. “He told me : ‘You’re funny on stage, you have presence, you’re funny, but then your sketch about depression, you shouldn’t do that. It will never work. Do stuff about football, about couples, about sex, but depression, depression, it won’t make you laugh,'” he shared. But for Dany Boon, it’s precisely the fact that he stands out by talking about such serious subjects which made him different and his success. “At the same time, there is nothing new, a clown is always sad”he concluded.
Dany Boon’s father feared he would become “homeless“
In A Sunday in the countrysideDany Boon revealed the harsh words his father had for him when he announced that he wanted to embark on an artistic career. “My father is very strict, very hard on me. Stricter with me than with the others because I am the eldest, I must set an example. When I tell him I want to be an artist, he looks at me and says : ‘Never. You’re going to be a tramp, is that what you want?'” he shared. However, he found extenuating circumstances. “He had it tough, he worked very young too. But that’s normal. The only link we had with the artistic world was television.”
