“Le Bigdil” is making its big return to RMC Story, this Thursday, January 2, 2025. After 20 years of absence, Vincent Lagaf and his famous sidekick Bill return to host the show to the delight of viewers.

Beep Beep! This Thursday, January 2, 2025, is the return of “Bigdil”, a legendary game show, broadcast on RMC Story from 9:10 p.m. After 20 years of absence, Vincent Lagaf and his sidekick Bill return to host the show. The rules have not changed, nor have the settings: there will be the brick wall, the staircase to leave the stage and the gifts hidden behind the curtain. But there will also be new things.

“We're going to find Bill's saucer, we're going to find this factory setting, we're going to find Vincent Lagaf'… We all find ourselves in the same setting, in the same delirium, but 20 years older. But to do stupid things and have fun, there is no age limit,” confides Gilles Vautier, the voice of Bill, on RMC this morning.

Launched in 1998 to replace “All in Play”, by Nagui, “Le Bigdil” quickly found its audience. Until 2004, more than 6 million people followed the Vincent Lagaf and Gaffettes show at 7 p.m. on TF1, before the game stopped.

“We were really happy to see each other again, it was incredible. And I think viewers will be happy to take this trip back in time. We find the Bigdil as we left it,” concludes Gilles Vautier.

Nostalgia, the ingredient for success

Apart from Bigdil, other old shows have made a comeback in recent years, such as “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”, “Popstar”, “Intervilles”, “Mot de Passe”, or even “Star Academy”.

Making something new from the old, a recipe that seems to work. “Vincent Lagaf, he’s so funny. Just for that, I'm happy because I was watching The Right Price, I really liked it at the end when they have to find the Right Price,” relates Julien-Victorin, who will be in front of the Bidgil this evening.

Same for Lucas, “The Right Price” was every evening before eating, with the family. But the return he is really waiting for is “Intervilles”, in the summer of 2025.

“I missed it, I found it really funny and I admit, when I was little, I dreamed of being able to do it so I would like to participate.”

Vincent is also very tempted to dive back into the show from his youth and share it with his son, “so that he can see a little of what I watched when I was his age”. The “Bigdil”, “Intervilles”, “Mot de Passe”, ultimately all that, is “the frenzy of summer”, “adults who did not take themselves seriously”, and “nostalgia”.

Because this is the ingredient in the success of these old shows, deciphers François Jost, specialist in communication sciences. “It takes us back to a time when, sometimes, we watched television with family, with friends, and so there is a whole world that resurfaces when we rewatch old shows.”
