For fans of The Toy Racethere was no better brand than Fnac on the Champs-Élysées to experience such a rush during the end-of-year celebrations. The huge store has been located at number 74 on the legendary Parisian avenue since 1997. It is therefore difficult not to consider this boutique as a real institution. Unfortunately, even the greatest icons can collapse. After the disappearance of the iconic Disney Store in 2023, the massacre continues on the Champs.
Against all odds, West France et Le Figaro have just revealed the date of the sudden closure of the Fnac des Champs Élysées. The giant of electronic and cultural products had already formalized this end of its journey in March 2024. It then admitted a difficult financial situation, mainly due to exorbitant rents on the avenue and the drop in sales, which affects all brands of the genre independently of their location. Less than a year after these revelations, the grand finale has been recorded. The company confirms that all employees have received new job offers within the group, and that they will leave the Champs store in a few days. The store will bow out next Sunday, January 12not without a final surprise for customers.
A big sale not to be missed
To limit breakage, Fnac is launching a store clearance operation starting tomorrow, Friday January 3. This will take place until the last day of opening of the brand but risks running out of steam from the first, or even from the first hours. The bravest who would like to venture into this ocean of discounted products therefore have every interest in not delaying.
Now that the end of year holidays are over, there is no better opportunity to spend the gifts distributed by loved ones. All that remains is to hope that the promotions will live up to the big closure of the Virgin Megastore in 2013. Geeks and other pop culture enthusiasts had a field day. But with the phenomenon of scalping which was not as present at the time, it is not impossible that the sales quickly turned into a nightmare.
