There could be exactly such a ski day on Friday.Bild: keystone
On Thursday there was already snowfall in some parts of Switzerland above 800 meters. This snowfall line is likely to drop again during the evening, as MeteoSwiss writes. In addition, there are strong westerly and southwesterly winds, especially in the north of Switzerland.
The weather service expects 10 to 20 centimeters of fresh snow on the northern slopes of the Alps from 1000 meters up by Friday morning. From 1500 meters there can be up to 35 centimeters, which is likely to increase the risk of avalanches.
And to make Friday even more perfect for skiers: from midday onwards the sun will be tempting in many places as the clouds are likely to increasingly clear up.
This is what the weather will be like this weekend
If you want to see the sun on Saturday, you have to go to over 1000 meters. Everything underneath is then buried under high fog. In addition, the temperatures are falling again significantly, in many places they even remain below the zero degree limit.
On Sunday the temperatures will rise again. The snowfall limit will rise to over 2000 meters, and it is likely to rain in large parts of the lowlands, especially in the first half of the day. This trend will continue on Monday, with maximum temperatures ranging between 5 and 10 degrees. In the Föhn valleys it is likely to be up to 15 degrees warm.
After that, the weather forecasts become very uncertain because we are moving close to the polar front. However, MeteoSwiss expects variable weather, precipitation and maximum temperatures in the single digits. (leo)
