Underground car park fire on Wednesday evening (01/01/2025) in Neuhausen am Rheinfall SH, four cars destroyed, around 30 residents evacuated.
On Wednesday evening (January 1, 2025), shortly after 9 p.m., the Schaffhausen police received a report that a car was on fire in an underground car park in the center of Neuhausen am Rheinfall.
When the emergency services arrived, three other cars were already fully ablaze. The Neuhausen Oberklettgau and Schaffhausen fire departments were able to extinguish the fire and successfully prevent the flames from spreading to the neighboring residential buildings.
The four affected cars were completely destroyed by the fire. The Schaffhausen police are currently investigating both the cause of the fire and the amount of property damage caused.
Nobody was injured. However, due to the heavy smoke, around 30 residents had to be evacuated from the surrounding residential buildings as a precaution.
-In addition to the Neuhausen Oberklettgau and Schaffhausen fire departments, employees from the emergency services of the Schaffhausen hospitals, the EKS, the intercantonal laboratory as well as members of the Schaffhausen cantonal fire police and the Schaffhausen police were on duty.
