After two called up in 2023, there will be three SQBB players to set foot on the floor of the Accor Arena in Bercy, Paris, as part of the All Star Game LNB 2024 (National Basketball League), this Sunday, December 29. Like what is done in the NBA in the United States, the event opposes for its 22e edition the best French players and the best international players from the Betclic Elite championship.
This Sunday, Nolan Traoré, Jerome Robinson and Enzo Goudou-Sinha will represent the SQBB. This presence of the Phénix allows to end a memorable year for the Axon club.
Indeed, for its first season in Betclic Elite, Saint-Quentin ranked 6e of the regular phase and qualified for the play-offs. An adventure which ended in the quarter-finals against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne at the beginning of May. Results which allow him to discover the BCL, the Basketball Champions League, since October 1, 2024.
The team led by Julien Mahé, the SQQB coach, also participated in the Leaders Cup last February. A competition reserved for the top eight in the championship, at the end of the first leg.
For this second term in the French basketball elite, the Saint-Quentinois continue to play the leading roles. Currently 6th, after 14 matches. Jerome Robinson, Nolan Traoré and Enzo Goudou-Sinha have stood out since the start of the season, among the Blue and White of the SQQB.
Nolan Traoré is the most scrutinized player at the moment. The young 18-year-old Frenchman began his professional career with Saint-Quentin at the end of last March, as a medical joker and quickly established himself as an indispensable element of the Axonais.
This season, he was named MVP (best player of the game) twice. First on October 2 during SQBB's first match in BCL against the Greeks of Kolossos, then on December 21, weighing in the derby against Portel. He then scored 13 points, made 8 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds.
In the meantime, he discovered the French team jersey last November. All of French basketball follows him closely. He is expected to be in the top 15 of the next NBA draft in June 2025. This Sunday, December 29, he will play in Team France. He was also selected for the Young Star Game which will bring together the best French hopes next January.
Another player who shone on the courts: Jerome Robinson. He will play for Team World in the All Star Game. Drafted in 13th position in 2018 by the Los Angelos Clippers, the American subsequently failed to confirm in the prestigious NBA. Arriving this summer in Julien Mahé's group, he brings the benefit of his experience. During the return match against Kolossos, the 27-year-old full-back was voted player of the match.
Finally, Enzo Goudou-Sinha will be the third Axonais to follow, as part of the 3-point shoot competition. Arriving as a medical joker for Lucas Boucaud, one of the two Saint-Quentinois present at the 2023 All Star Game, he subsequently extended his contract until the end of the season. He was also named MVP against Limoges on December 14. He is an important element of the team in three-point shooting since he is 42% successful, making almost 6 shots on average per game this season in Betclic Elite.
This Friday, December 27, Saint-Quentin ended the year 2024 with a defeat at Bourg-en-Bresse (96-85). Still in the top 8, the Axonais can hope to qualify for the Leaders Cup, a second consecutive year. They will have to win at home, against Strasbourg, on January 11.
