Trouble for tram users this Friday morning in the Bordeaux metropolis. Nothing circulated for two hoursbetween about 5:30 and 7:30 a.m., then there were big delays until mid-morning. It's one's faultmajor technical incident“, explains TBM.
Tram tracking system failure
The network explains that this incident is linked to a “total loss of tram operating system“, that is to say the system which allows the position of the trams to be visualized in real time. Suddenly, the control tower goes blind : the agents no longer see where the different trams are positioned.
For safety, TBM therefore stopped everything: the few trams already on the tracks were recalled to the depot.
Bus de substitution
For the moment, we do not know the causes of this failure. It took the teams two hours to resolve the computer problem, but delays continued on the network in the morning.
Replacement buses have been put in place to the thousands of travelers stuck at the dock.
Already incidents of this type
If this type of incident rare remainsthe TBM network had already suffered a breakdown last May linked to a loss of communication with its trams. The incident was linked to a “broadcast storm”a surplus of information which has saturated the system.
The “historic” breakdown of 2018 had also left its mark: it was the first breakdown of this type on the network, everything had remained at a standstill for more than 15 hours.
