Marie-Laure, her little sister, is 97% deaf and it was Nathalie Lecoultre's partner who noticed this. In a documentary dedicated to the actor by TF1, Marie-Laure also testified on this subject: “My parents didn’t know I was deaf. It was Jean-Luc who noticed when I was two years old […] I couldn't hear and I didn't speak at all.”. Very close to his sister, Jean-Luc Reichmann has spoken on numerous occasions about his sister's disability and the way in which he has always supported her.
He told in this same documentary that he challenged his sister so that she would surpass herself and become independent. For example ? “The day she came back alone with her two wands was crazy. Invited on RFM by Bernard Montiel in 2023, the host admitted that “When there is the arrival of a child who is disabled in a family like ours, it is no longer the same lemonade at all.” And to add: “You have a spot on your nose and then you realize at the age of 10 that you have a little sister coming and that at the age of 2, she doesn't speak… You realize that there is someone more serious than you”. “Let's look at what's going well at home. Me, my spot on my nose, I decided to keep her, it was a struggle at firstbecause you had to be the ideal type, and I wasn't. But there is always worse”, he concluded.
