The Boston Celtics are arguably one of the best teams in the league, and have multiple superstars to back that up. However, their main superstar Jayson Tatum, who has been in MVP talks, is actually not so concerned with his ranking in the league. What he really cares about is winning another NBA Finals.

“We’re a really, really good team, with so many talented players. I’m probably not going to put up the same numbers as those other guys. That’s perfectly fine with me, especially what we did in June last year. That’s the main goal, not for me to win MVP.”

This season, the Celtics are second in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 22-6. Only the Cleveland Cavaliers are ahead of them, who they have split the series with so far this season.

As for Tatum, he is averaging 29 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and a steal per game. He is the team leader for points, rebounds, assists, steals, and threes this season.

Honestly, Tatum should be higher up in the MVP talks, even if he doesn’t care. While he isn’t putting up huge numbers like the other MVP candidates, he leads his team in five statistics. The MVP award isn’t for the best scorer or playmaker, it’s for the most valuable player to their team, and Tatum is the Celtics’ most valuable player.
