Philippe Tabarot, senator (LR) of Alpes-Maritimes, was named this Monday evening minister responsible for Transport in the new government of François Bayrou. An announcement particularly well received by elected officials on the Riviera.

The senator (LR) of the Alpes-Maritimes, Philippe Tabarot, has been appointed minister responsible for Transport within the new government of François Bayrou, the Elysée announced this Monday, December 23 at 6:30 p.m.

A nomination which was largely unanimous among elected officials on the Riviera. The mayor of and president of the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolis, Christian Estrosi, spoke on X of “a Minister of Transport who is both pragmatic, efficient and deeply anchored in the reality of the territories”.

The latter returned to the experience of Philippe Tabarot as vice-president of the South Region. “He was able to deploy concrete solutions to improve the mobility offer in our region. We wish him every success,” he added. Its president, Renaud Muselier, assured X that he was “an excellent choice for ”.

“Fine knowledge”

And compliments are pouring in for the new Minister responsible for Transport. “A considerable asset for the development of transport in our country”, pointed out X Anthony Borré, first deputy mayor of Nice.

“His long-standing commitment to security and improving mobility, in particular through his proposed law aimed at strengthening security in transport, testifies to his determination to serve the general interest,” detailed for his part on X Charles Ange Ginésy, president of the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Council.

The new Minister responsible for Transport was also congratulated by Alexandra Borchio-Fontimp, senator and departmental councilor for Alpes-Maritimes. “A specialist in mobility, he will be able to put his skills at the service of France but also, I hope, to unblock the situation with the Tende Tunnel,” she declared on X.

Finally, Dominique Estrosi-Sassone “welcomes with enthusiasm the appointment” of Philippe Tabarot. “His detailed knowledge of issues in the field of mobility acquired over several years in the South Region and since 2020 in the Senate will be very valuable in meeting issues and challenges for our territories on the road, rail and air networks which are at the heart of daily life of our fellow citizens”, she said on X, before concluding that it was “a real opportunity for the department”.
