Entering the hour mark against Lou on Sunday December 22, the young pillar Benjamin Bertrand (21 years old) burst into the limelight yesterday, just like the two other front row from the training center who entered alongside him, Thomas Lacombre and Malachi Hawkes. Hot interview after the Stadistes draw (17-17).

What is your feeling after this draw, which was a little frustrating for everyone?

Personally, I'm quite satisfied with what I did. But obviously it leaves a taste of unfinished business, especially since we end on a forward note. It's a real shame because we were on a somewhat positive momentum for us… It really leaves this taste of unfinished business because we're also leaving a lot of points on the way… We manage to create chances and we don't finish.

You returned during the match, what were the instructions from the staff?

The instructions were above all to bring energy because we knew that with that we would have a better chance of moving forward, by moving them more by adding speed and circulation of the ball. The main instruction was above all to move around.

We've seen you carry the ball a lot, trying to break lines with the ball in hand… Is that the Benjamin Bertrand style?

(Laughs) I don't know if it's Benjamin Bertrand's paw, it's mainly the wet ball. I know my abilities and I manage to stay clear-headed about when to make a pass and when not to make it. The times I guarded, I told myself that I shouldn't do it because it was probably going to end with the ball on the ground (laughs).

When you break the first tackle, do you ever believe it and imagine yourself going to the end?

I still believe in it, you always have to believe in it, otherwise you do things half-heartedly and you do things wrong. But deep down, I know that, away from the line, I will rarely score on a 50-yard breakthrough (smile).

REPLAY. Lyon – Stade Toulousain: “Everyone responded like lions” rejoices Anthony Jelonch after the draw for the “rouge et noir”

Coming to Lyon, a team that is playing for survival… Did you consider this match to be a trap?

Yes, that's it, especially since we're in a cycle where it's been six years since we last won here. And we know, when teams host , it's always a different match for them. And Lyon was in fact in a difficult period and this match could allow them to get back on track. It was a trap match if you can put it that way.
