Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk weighed in this Friday on the eve of their rematch. 26 kilos separate the two men on the scale, to the Briton's advantage.
Tyson Fury has gained weight in preparation for the reunion. Beaten last May by Oleksandr Usyk, the Briton was weighed at 127.46kg this Friday evening in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) on the eve of the revenge against the Ukrainian. The “Gypsy King” weighed 119kg during his previous weigh-in.
Oleksandr Usyk weighs 102.5kg for this new fight against Tyson Fury. However, it should be noted that both fighters got on the scales with their clothes on. The Ukrainian must therefore be close to the 101.35 kg that he displayed on the sidelines of his victory in May.
Three belts at stake
In the heavyweight category, the minimum weight is 90.719kg but there is no maximum weight, unlike other categories. For his last two fights before Usyk, Tyson Fury oscillated between 121 and 125kg. To try to become the number one heavyweight again, the Englishman had to make many sacrifices. “It was a long training camp,” he told DAZN. “I have been separated from my wife and my children for three months, I have not spoken to Paris (his wife's first name, Editor's note) at all for three months, not a word. Yes, I have sacrificed a lot. It will be worth it, 100%.”
During the first clash between the two men, Oleksandr Usyk won by split decision, allowing him to unify the four heavyweight belts, a first since 1999. This time, Usyk will put three belts into play since he does not is no longer the holder of the IBF title, which was taken from him. In fact, Usyk remains undefeated in 22 fights where Fury suffered his first defeat in May, for his 36th pro fight.
