For the founder of La insoumise, the new Prime Minister “will not survive the winter”. He believes that there will be no majority on the new budget and that, consequently, François Bayrou will use 49.3, which will push the rebellious deputies to table a motion of censure.

“The same causes will produce the same effects.” In an interview with Le Parisien this Friday, December 20, Jean-Luc Mélenchon threatened the new Prime Minister François Bayrou with a motion of censure following his general policy speech which will take place on January 14.

“We demand a vote on confidence to see if he has a majority. Otherwise, we will logically table a motion of censure, announces the founder of La France insoumise. It is very unlikely that the centrist, struggling to appoint a government, seeks a vote of confidence from MPs.

“There is no majority for the budget”

For Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who is not a member of parliament and therefore will not vote on a possible motion of censure, François Bayrou is “the heir of a political bankruptcy, that of Mr. Barnier, who himself was the heir by a coup, that of Mr Macron, when he did not want to recognize the result of the July elections (where the New Popular Front came first in number of seats, Editor's note)”.

“The same causes will produce the same effects,” says the rebel.

According to him, “there is no majority for the budget, so there will be a 49.3 and therefore, censorship. François Bayrou will not survive the winter.”

And Jean-Luc Mélenchon wants to go quickly. He wants a motion of censure “probably on January 16, 48 hours after his general policy speech.” “If he does not have a majority, we are not going to restart an endless discussion on the budget ending with a new 49.3! We ask him not to waste the country any more time,” insists the former candidate for the presidential.

A rebellious candidacy in the event of an early presidential election

As he has already repeated several times, Jean-Luc Mélenchon is calling for an early presidential election. He believes that “the only solution is a return to the polls” with Emmanuel Macron leaving the Élysée.

“Public impotence is unbearable: poverty, dilapidation and ecological inaction strike from all sides. Only an anticipated presidential election in 2025 will get the country out of the impasse,” he told Le Parisien.

François Bayrou: “a government this weekend” – 12/19

If there is an early presidential election, “a rebellious candidacy will be proposed as a common candidacy to those who want it”. La France insoumise is finally ready since “the machine is on its way to having 500 sponsorships within the very short deadline” and a program will be ready “in January”.
