Rey Misterio Sr. Passes Away: Dominik Mysterio REACTS | WWE News

In response to the death of his great uncle Miguel Ángel López Díazbetter known to wrestling fans as Mystery King Mr.WWE star Dominik Mysterio has taken to social media. On December 20, AAA Worldwide Wrestling announced Misterio’s death. The Mexican promotion paid respect to the wrestling veteran on Twitter.

Dominik Mysterio Breaks Silence on the Passing of Rey Misterio Sr.

After learning of Misterio’s death, Dominik Mysterio, the great-ephemeral luchador’s nephew, posted a number of images on Twitter. Rey Misterio Sr., sometimes spelled Rey Mysterio Sr., trained as a boxer before making his ring debut in 1976.
He last wrestled on April 24, 2023, at Global Lucha Libre, where he defeated Hereje, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, and Nightmare Azteca in a trios match alongside Aero Star and Mr. Iguana. Notably, Misterio allowed his nephew to use his name. The nephew wrestled in the WWE as Rey Mysterio after dropping the “Jr.” first went by Rey Mysterio Jr.
Dominik Mysterio posted the ages of Mystery throughout his career, as well as a black heart emoji.

Furthermore, AAA posted the following written tribute along with a graphic:

We lament the delicate death of Rey Mysterio Sr., Miguel Ángel López Días. We offer our deepest sympathies to his family and ask God to grant him eternal peace. (translated from Spanish) Lopez Dias, who went on to win numerous titles in various divisions and introduce his nephew to the sport, is one of the most notable members of a large family in the entertainment wrestling industry.

His nephew, also known as Rey Mysterio, is considered one of the most legendary and outstanding fighters in the WWE and has won the heavyweight title twice in addition to the WWE title. In addition, Lopez Dias trained his grand-nephew, Dominik Mysterio, a 27-year-old San Diego native who is a two-time NXT North America Champion and a competitor in The Judgment Day series.
