It goes for Stade Rennais. The Bretons did not tremble against Bordeaux, a former big name in French football, today in N2. The Bretons enforced the hierarchy of three divisions separating the two teams by making the difference in the second period, ultimately securing a wide qualification.
Rennais who ideally started the match by confiscating the ball. A sterile domination which kept Bordeaux in the match. As proof, from the first local incursion, Gallon cleared a ball in the middle on Bahassa who took advantage of the opportunity to open the score (1-0, 18'). Led against the run of play, Rennes were slow to react and came up against the solid Bordeaux defense.

Jorge Sampaoli's men still forced the safe and found the fault on a long cross from Assignon for Truffert's winning header at the far post (1-1, 28'). An equalizer, but no real reaction from Rennes who even left spaces, like an attempt by Merdji, whose attempt was repelled by Gallon (45'+ 2). Bretons who had the last opportunity of the first period on a Blas corner headed by Kalimuendo who found the post (45'+5).
The Rennais resumed the match by settling into the Bordeaux camp and approaching the goal as with the shot from James which passed close to the post (50') or from Blas, pushed back by the goalkeeper (51').
This rise in power was finally rewarded with a cross shot from James, at the edge of the area, which left the last Bordeaux rampart with no chance (1-2, 59'). The Bretons delivered the final blow with a collective movement followed by a shot from Truffert on the bar, victoriously taken back by Assignon (1-3, 75') then with a pass from Jota to Kalimuendo (1-4, 79') which ensured the qualification of the Rouge et Noir for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France.
