The weather forecast for this Friday, December 20 sets the tone for the weekend: mainly sunny but lots of wind.

Several strong gusts have been recorded in recent hours in the department, placed in yellow alert until 2 p.m.including 148km/h at Cap Cépet, 132km/h at Cap Dramont, 126km/h at Porquerolles, 114km/h at Cap Camarat and 103km/h at .

At 11 a.m., the Var firefighters counted twenty interventions carried out since the middle of the night in the department.

They came for eight brush firesfour tree fallsthree incidents on electrical lines, three damages on roofs and two on structures, including one at the Grand Var Est shopping center with a risk of a shade sail and its metal structure being torn off.

A young woman was also slightly injured during the fall of a tree near My Business School, rue Laurent Schwartz in La Valette-du-Var.

Among the interventions in progress, the securing of an antenna and a chimney threatening to collapse at the height of the building located between n°4 and n°6 of Place de la République in Carqueiranne. To allow emergency services to intervene safely, access to the eastern part of Place de la République and Rue Victoire Mangot is closed to the public and traffic.

At the same time, the military authorities have decided to close the small harbor of Toulon this Friday at 8:15 a.m., and consequently the commercial port. The Corsica Ferries Mega Victoria, carrying 500 passengers, had to wait for the wind to calm down before docking.

Saturday December 21

The soleil will shine all day Saturday across the whole of the Var, while the vent will only blow in the center and west of the department, from Barjols to Toulon via Puget-Ville. The strongest gusts, at 60km/h, are expected in the morning.

In terms of temperatures, it will be between -4°C in Trigance and 13°C in Toulon this Saturday morning. At the hottest of the day, the mercury will reach 16°C on the coast, between Hyères and Saint-Tropez, or 2°C above seasonal norms.

Sunday December 22

THE clearings will dominate this Sunday, and rare showers are even announced in the evening between Signes and Trigance.

The vent will be there again and will blow all day long over the entire territory. The highest gusts are expected to reach 95km/h in Seillans and 90km/h in Toulon.

Temperatures will be similar to those of the day before, namely a minimum of -2°C in Trigance and a maximum of 18°C in Saint-Tropez.
