While Carry-On continues to be a hit around the world on Netflix, the question arises about the possibility of a sequel… Taron Egerton already has some answers.
Everything is going well for Netflix at the end of the year, with the hit Carry-On getting off to a great start with more than 40 million full views worldwide since its launch.
This imitation Die Hard worn by Taron Egerton follows a young air security agent who must face blackmail from a mysterious passenger who threatens to smuggle a dangerous package on board a plane on Christmas Eve…
With rather positive comments and an average rating of 3.5 out of 5 on AlloCiné, Carry On appealed to French spectators who are particularly fond of action films. If the scenario is calibrated to appeal to a generation having experienced the 80s and 90s, the popularity of its main actor and its effective script have allowed it to attract a wider audience.
A successful bet which could allow Carry On to become Netflix’s new action saga, like Die Hard three decades ago, and for Taron Egerton to become the new Bruce Willis. Asked about the possibility of a sequelthe main interested party gave the following response:
“This sequel must meet a lot of extraordinary criteria. It would take a truly innovative and creative idea for the idea of a sequel to be worthy of interest. But yes, why not.”
Especially since Carry-On can mean two things in English: “hand luggage” or “continue”... So we can very well imagine a second part which follows Ethan’s new adventures.
Why don’t we believe it for a single second
It must be said that Netflix had accustomed us, not so long ago, to announcing all-out sequels to these big-budget films. Without any further news since. We think, for example, of The Gray Man (2022) with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans and Red Notice carried by Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds, two of the most viewed productions on the streaming platform.
We are also waiting for information on Tyler Rake 3 with Chris Hemsworth which has also been announced but which is not scheduled to film anytime soon. What can we also say about The Old Guard 2 with Charlize Theron which is completely finished but which remains warm in Netflix’s private servers for who knows what reason?
Carry-On on Netflix: pause at 1:33 to see a false connection that made fans laugh!
With all this, it’s hard to imagine Netflix ordering the sequel to a film whose ending is rather closed. Certainly, the character played by Taron Egerton has officially joined the police force and left his position within LAX, but do we really want to know what happens to him after that?
It’s up to you to tell us in the comments!
