What weather can we expect this weekend? The start of the Christmas holidays, which starts this Friday after school for students who do not have class on Saturday, is marked by gray weather and rain. “New rainy disturbances will sweep across France from North to South during the day on Saturday in a general pattern from West to North-West bringing a certain mildness with maximums often in double digits”, details Météo France. It will be worse on Sunday, where the arrival of a new disturbance will bring rain, wind and snow to medium altitudes.
A new disturbance, crossing the country from the South-West to the North-East, will bring intermittent clouds and rain. In the morning, the sky will be clear along the Channel and Mediterranean coasts. In the afternoon, gray weather will prevail over the majority of the country, particularly in Île-de-France. If the sun shines in the South-East, the mistral and the tramontane will blow, but with a little less force than the day before.
In terms of temperatures, they are cool in the East and milder in the West. In the morning, the thermometer will go from -2°C in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, to 11°C in Perpignan and Biarritz. The records for the two extremes will be held by the same cities in the afternoon, with -1°C in Bourg-Saint-Maurice and 15°C in Perpignan. In Paris, it will be 9°C in the morning and 10°C in the afternoon.
Like the day before, the weather will be generally humid on Sunday. Scattered rain will fall over the vast majority of the territory, with snow in the mountains, at increasingly lower altitudes as the day goes on. Only the South-East will be spared, where clearings and dry weather will dominate, but will remain accompanied by a strong mistral and a strong tramontane.
Be careful, however, if you take the road towards the mountain resorts. “We expect between 20 and 40 cm around 1500 m between now and Monday,” warns La Chaîne Météo. The Northern Alps and the Jura are the most exposed to this type of flow. »
Temperatures will be between 3 and 11°C in the morning from the North-East to the Mediterranean and between 5 and 15°C in the afternoon. In Paris, it will be 9°C in the morning and afternoon and scattered rain will fall throughout the day.
During the night from Sunday to Monday, the weather will continue to be humid and cool, announcing a gloomy start to the week over the majority of the country. Once again, only the South-East could be an exception with drier weather and clearings.
